Today's post is about my first full day in the City of Lights.

Rue di Rivoli

Rue di Rivoli

This is yet another excellent photo opportunity among many others that I took throughout my trip. This photo was taken on the Rue di Rivoli (sounds Italian right) in the 1st Arrondisment of Paris. It's a famous and very busy avenue located in the literal heart of the city. It's an ideal spot for being in close proximity to the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, and endless sights to see as well as shopping. This avenue is directly across from the Jardin des Tuileries (gardens) and the avenue itself is lined with shops, restaurants, and luxe hotels such as Le Meurice and Hotel Brighton; two five star hotels that are both worthwhile to stay in if money wasn't an object. Perspective is one the key elements used in this photo.

Placè Vendome

Placè Vendome

This is a very ritzy square of Paris boasting designer stores and boutique hotels. Think of it as Fifth Avenue in New York or Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills; Placè Vendome brings it all together. I recommend coming to see this magnificent square for picture taking or window shopping.

The Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower

One of the most famous monuments in the world, the Eiffel Tower is the true symbol of Paris. This is first photo I took of it. When I saw it for the first time, I couldn't believe my eyes. I was standing right in front of this beautiful landmark. It's also a lot taller in person than it may seem in the pictures.

This is a famous statue of Mr. Gustave Eiffel himself (being only his head) that shows his inspiration for building such an incredible masterpiece.

After an exciting day of sightseeing, I went back to my hotel to relax for a little while and then head out in the evening. This photo was taken just after 8:30 at night will full daylight still unbelievably! I was so amazed of how late the sun went down. Summer evenings in Paris were a delight.

Jardin du Luxembourg

Jardin du Luxembourg

Before dinner, I decided to take a walk to the Jardin du Luxembourg Gardens near my hotel to watch the sunset and take more beautiful photos. In the days of the monarchy, this place used to be a royal palace and garden but now has been open to the public as a park ideal for picnics and sunset watching. It's also a relaxing spot after a long day of sightseeing.

If you're looking for a good restaurant or brasserie with al fresco dining, look no further than Les Patios. I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for classic French cuisine.
