A Glimpse of Medieval Paris
Today is all about sights to see of medieval Paris! Starting with the Cluny Museum or as they say it in French the "Musée de Cluny". This place used to be an estate of wealthy aristocracy in Paris at the time of knights and chivalry. Ever since the days of the French monarchy ended, it is now used as a public museum sharing old history of the city. You can explore on your own or with an audio guide. I decided to wander the corridors at my own pace. I admired the works of art, the architecture, and just everything that Paris once was. There is a ground floor, dungeon, and upper floor of the museum. Its located in the 5th Arr just down the street from my hotel in the Latin Quarter near Boulevard Saint Michel and Boulevard Saint Germain. It's very easy to get to by any means of transport. It's a fascinating place for those who love history!
Loved the detail of the dungeons!
During the French Revolution, the heads of the statues on the exterior of Notre Dame were cut off since it was custom to do that during war time in that era. It was truly an awful time in Paris's history. However, it was interesting looking at them and seeing them so well preserved.
This doorway reminds me so much of the doors at Hogwarts shown in Harry Potter. Total Potterhead!!
This is the magnificent interior of the Notre Dame Cathedral. It just takes your breath away when you see it in person for the first time. It's very tall with its high ceilings and long length size. The incredible gothic architecture continues inside bringing remarkable detail at every corner. If these walls could talk, they would tell it all. This very room has seen numerous occasions such as weddings, masses, funerals, etc and has seen many many years of life.
And the journey continues...
