Today I explored & visited some unique historical treasures that are located all around Bergen County. I visited the Old School House Museum in Ridgewood, the Zabriskie House in Wyckoff, and the John Fell House in Allendale. All of which opened today for the seasons and are usually open on the weekends, (weather permitting and seasonally of course 😉). Each property had an eclectic and interesting connection and history to the generations before us who resided in Bergen County and lived a simple agrarian lifestyle. Simple times that’s for sure! Candlelight, cooking under a hearth fire, reading a book in the study, all quintessential charms of the 18th and 19th century eras. It was all a part of History Day, which is a local and non-profit organized event that has been going on for 9 years! It was my first time and I’ll definitely be back to explore more!
Exploring history is just so wonderful and discovering the roots to where we are as a society today is just magical! If you live in Bergen County, are nearby, or are in good driving distance, I highly recommend it!! 😊😄
Anywho, more travels to come! Now that it’s spring, almost everything is in bloom, and the winter is finally behind us...”knock on wood” 🤞🏻, it’s time to get out and discover the beauty of our world around us and enjoy the great outdoors and warmer days ahead!
Explore, Wander, & Discover! 🌎🌍🌏
